Yili Liu (born 1994, Hong Kong), is a London based artists that works with sculpture, performance, video and installation. Her work presents the uncanny ordinary through blurring boundaries and creating illusions. Minimalist yet surreal, the paradoxical visuals are often an exploration of human behaviours under the vast environment of nature and technology. Liu often questions the relationship between mankind and its tools, the coexistence of functionality and consumption. She studied BA Fine Art at Chelsea Colleges of Arts and graduated at Central Saint Martins with an MA of Contemporary Photography.

 

In 2019, Liu’s ‘Monument Valley’(2017-2018) was awarded as 1st prize of BCY’s 8th Half-Dimensional Award in Shanghai. She was the winner of Autor Magazine Award in 2018, in a year later showcased as the front cover and feature in their no.6 magazine issue.
